Divvy donated 70 bikes to seniors of Michele Clark Academic Prep Magnet High School for their second annual ride to eight nearby elementary schools.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Truss’ appointment along with the rest of the seven-member board on Monday at a press conference. The new board will be sworn in on June 26.
Located alongside Catalyst Circle Rock Charter School at 5618 W. Washington Blvd., the center offers space for the community to collaborate and be creative. The new center, which features a 900-seat auditorium, is open to the community and professional artists to rent, including the Circle Rockets youth orchestra.
Three organizations doing work in Austin – A Long Walk Home, Chicago Freedom School, and Communities United-Voices of Youth in Chicago (VOYCE) – will participate in the June 1 event at Columbia College Chicago. The organizations, which are supported by the Bright Promises Foundation, will compete for a $10,000 grant.
This is the 45th year the Austin church has awarded scholarships. Since the program began in 1974, more than 500 students have received the awards. This year, students received $1,000 each.
The Westside Health Authority’s Good Neighbor Campaign honored the work being done by first responders and teachers. In all, five teachers and two first responders were celebrated at the May 14th event.
Michele Clark Academic Prep Magnet High School seniors Lamaria Johnson and Tanzanikia Taylor were recently awarded four-year scholarships that cover all tuition costs.
The Trump official visited a program operated by By The Hand Club for Kids, which is located in an Opportunity Zone. Businesses and groups that invest in Opportunity Zones are eligible for tax breaks under the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
