Austin peace bike ride set for Saturday

Meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at Michele Clark Magnet High School, 5101 W. Harrison St., and the ride will start at 10 a.m.

Registrations are still being accepted for the Sept. 27th bike ride, which begins at Columbus Park. Riders will travel 13 miles through Chicago, Oak Park, Forest Park and Maywood. The Chicago Police Department will ride along and provide vehicle escort.
Register for the sunrise bike ride, which starts at 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27 at Columbus Park, 500 S. Central Ave. Don’t worry if you don’t have a bike; free Divvy bikes will be available.
BUILD will hold a bike ride for peace from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 24th. Participants are encouraged to register in advance for the event, which begins at 5100 W. Harrison St. The Chicago Community Alliance will hold “Summer Fest West” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Marshall High School, 3300 W. Jackson Blvd. City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin and 28th Ward Ald. Jason Ervin will host the event.
Divvy donated 70 bikes to seniors of Michele Clark Academic Prep Magnet High School for their second annual ride to eight nearby elementary schools.
Registration starts at 9 a.m., then the biking begins at 10 a.m. There will be music and snacks before the ride, which sets out from BUILD’s headquarters at 5100 W. Harrison St.
Everyone is welcome Saturday, July 15 for a ride through Austin. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at 5100 W. Harrison Street, with bikers setting off at 10 a.m.
