Candidates discussed public safety, economic development, housing and mental health, among other key topics Austin residents are considering as they vote in the Feb. 28th local election.
Early voting began Jan 26 and continues until Election Day, which is Feb. 28. Chicago voters can cast their ballots now at the voter supersite at 191 N. Clark and the election board offices at 69 W. Washington.
On Sunday, Congressman Danny K. Davis and Ald. Emma Mitts endorsed three candidates running for the new police District Councils on the West Side.
Voters can cast their votes now at one of two downtown sites – 191 N. Clark St. and 69 W. Washington St. And starting Oct. 24, early voting sites in each of the 50 wards will open.
Early voting for the June 28th primary was supposed to begin May 19th, but the date was pushed back to accommodate recent changes to the ballot, including the removal of the city ward map referendum question.
As the effort to restore voting rights to people in prison moves forward, lawmakers including state Rep. La Shawn K. Ford have high hopes that the bill will be passed. On Monday a town hall was held to spotlight the issue and encourage Chicagoans to support the legislation.
Residents of the 29th Ward will soon have the opportunity to vote on how to spend about $1 million in their community. The goal is for residents to be able to vote on several possible projects before the end of January.
More than 100 students from civics classes on Chicago’s West and Northwest sides are mobilizing people to vote in the Nov. 3rd election. They’ve been calling potential voters and handing out campaign literature even though many of them aren’t old enough to vote themselves.
There are early voting sites across the city and on the West Side; they’re open seven days a week. If you have registered yet to vote, you can do so at any of these sites. If you prefer to vote by mail, you can drop off your sealed and completed ballot at a secure lock box any any Chicago early voting site. Election Day is Nov. 3.
