Chicago West Community Music Center and 2nd Story present “Breaking Through” May 31 and June 7.
The group made a stop at Austin Town Hall Sept. 22 to hear stories from residents and guests for their upcoming storytelling and musical interpretation series.

The Aug. 1 performance of “The Taming of the Shrew” at Austin Town Hall was the third of 11 scheduled performances by the free citywide tour, which brought residents and visitors to the West Side neighborhood.
Last month’s two-week program at the University of Illinois at Chicago gave 150 students citywide the opportunity to practice skills, watch performances and develop new techniques.
The free event featured professionals, as well as student performers from the Chicago Park District day camp program.
The free performance of “The Taming of the Shrew” is one of many stops by the theater parks tour running through Aug. 19.
The program, which aims to offer opportunities to individuals with disabilities, will be closing the series May 20 with “Images of Disability in Films for Kids.”
The event, with teens from all over the city, runs through the second week of March, with Austin’s West Side Warriors competing again Friday at the Chicago Cultural Center.
