Just as last week’s LSC results are released, CPS announced supplemental elections will be held May 18 at schools where not enough candidates ran to fill the council.
Elections for all CPS elementary schools will be held today from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the same time tomorrow at all high schools.
Like others, the school won’t have enough candidates on Wednesday’s ballot to fill the open positions.
While the school’s principal and LSC coordinator declined to speak with AustinTalks, the office manager and previous LSC coordinator said the issue, as well as increasing attendance, will require the attention of newly elected members.
The interactive map allows users to see candidates who will appear on the ballots Wednesday and Thursday.
The new members elected Wednesday will help plan the school’s longer day.
Winners of the April 18 election will help the school’s staff determine how to plan the longer day.
Monday’s 2:30 p.m. event will allow the public to learn about those running in the April 18 election.
Current members worry there aren’t enough parents involved to assist with selecting a new principal, fundraising and recruiting new students – all issues the new council faces.
