Launched in 2016, the choir includes students aged 9 to 14 and is looking to expand. Tickets to tonight’s performance are free, though donations are welcome.
The Illinois Alliance presents a post-Thanksgiving karaoke event 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at 5924 W. Chicago. Saxophonist Ike Carothers will be the special guest.
Female dancers from Chicago’s West and South Sides recently performed at La Follette Park in Austin as part of the 2017 Peacebook Festival hosted by Collaboration Theater Company. They’ve performed in other Chicago neighborhoods, too.
Several musicians will perform Sept. 8 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome at the free event, which is sponsored by the Chicago Park District.
Tonight’s event will feature dozens of West Side performers, including the Good Neighbor Girls – a new Austin dance group – from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davis Play Lot, 5437 W. Division St.
Community meetings and rehearsals have been set in the 29th and 37th Wards for the citywide Crowd Out performance at Millennium Park Oct. 1. The program is sponsored and coordinated by Illinois Humanities.
The Chicago West Community Music Center presents “The Soul of Broadway” at 7 p.m. July 28 at 5701 W. Jackson Boulevard.
All are invited to the event, organized by Austin artist Markell Mooney. It will take place at 5156 W. Concord Place at 7:30 p.m. July 8.
Children in 3rd grade or older are invited to participate in the Chicago Children’s Choir; attend a special event 4:15 p.m. Jan. 25 at Austin Town Hall.
Sisters Larryann and Pearlie Aaron plan to put on the productions from March to August 2017.
