Alleging that three businesses along the same strip of Madison Street in Austin neighborhood allow an environment of loitering, drug dealing, gambling and public indecency, community members met last week with city officials and the business owners to create a plan to resolve the issues.
Voting runs through Nov. 20th on five neighborhood projects on the list to be funded out of Ald. Chris Taliaferro’s $1.3 million “menu money” budget. This is the second year those living in the ward have been able to take part in “participatory budgeting.”
Police, residents came together once again for their annual community block party held in Chicago and other U.S. cities every summer.
The 25th District invites West Siders to National Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 1 at 5555 W. Grand Avenue. The annual event promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
