The next deadline will be Nov. 30, when challenges to a candidate’s petition must be filed with the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners. Which candidates will appear on the Feb. 22nd ballot will be known by Dec. 23rd, when officials certify the list of names.
With the Nov. 2nd election over, attention now turns to the Feb. 22nd ballot. Candidates have to turn in their petitions to the Chicago Board of Elections between Nov. 15 and Nov. 22.
The 7th District congressman who easily won reelection Nov. 2nd received the backing of the recently created Chicago Coalition for Mayor Saturday after private meetings and much back and forth.
The Democrat incumbent defeated Green candidate Ronald Lawless in Tuesday’s election, earning another four-year term on the board.
Polls opened today at 6 a.m., where voting for the Illinois governor’s race and the U.S. Senate contest is expected to be close. There are local races, too, that voters won’t want to miss.
Carol Moseley Braun and Larry Rogers will meet with the coalition, which will then decide which candidate to back in the Feb. 22nd election.
Green Party candidate Ron Lawless is out campaigning for votes, while Democratic Commissioner Earlean Collins remains quiet.
