The Chicago Park District will offer free classes from 2 to 5 p.m. April 9th, then stay for another hour of performances.
The Chicago Police Department will show residents how to use its web site to stay safe. If you can’t make it this weekend, another class will be offered March 29.
The Friday night beginners’ course is one of multiple programs offered at the Sankofa Cultural Arts & Business Center, 5820 W. Chicago Ave.
The early childhood education program’s owner said her ideas were not accepted by the community, resulting in financial difficulties due to low enrollment.
Last month’s two-week program at the University of Illinois at Chicago gave 150 students citywide the opportunity to practice skills, watch performances and develop new techniques.
They showed off their new table manners learned in the six-week course with a lunch celebration at Alice’s Soul Food May 3.
Passing scores on these national tests give students the chance to earn college credit before earning their diploma.
A federal grant is funding a program at Bethel New Life for the elderly to learn how to use the Internet. You can still sign up for the classes.
