With the help of a state grant, Austin Coming Together will announce next month its plans to bridge the digital divide on the West Side.
While students at San Miguel’s West Side location will have to find a new school after the end of this academic year, its representatives and members from Austin Coming Together and St. Joseph Services want Austin youth to continue using its community center, computer lab and gym.
Investments in manufacturing and improvements in infrastructure are outlined in the 64-page report released last month.
The Sweet Homes Chicago project is accepting applications through Aug.15 from designers interested in developing plans.
Both projects are being developed by the group Austin Coming Together with help from the city and other local organizations.
The workshop series focuses on building skills, having fun and enforcing healthy habits.
If chosen, the West Side would receive federal funding to strengthen schools so kids can go from “cradle to college to career.”
