Saturday is the deadline for residents to submit their ideas about which projects they want to be considered for funding through participatory budgeting.

Ald. Chris Taliaferro shared progress on construction projects in the 29th Ward, including a proposed innovation center on Madison Street and Central Avenue. He also reminded residents to pay attention to where they park now that street sweeping has begun.
Though votes are still being tallied, more West Side residents took part this year than in past years. They’re helping decide how $1.5 million in “menu money” will be spent.
Residents of the 29th Ward will soon have the opportunity to vote on how to spend about $1 million in their community. The goal is for residents to be able to vote on several possible projects before the end of January.
Those in attendance at this month’s meeting of the Austin African American Business Network Association were encouraged to apply for a Retail Thrive Zone business development grant from the city of Chicago.
“This is a great example of what can happen when you have a community, elected officials and companies coming together for the benefit of veterans and for the benefit of communities,” Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin said at the May 24th ground breaking.
