Celebrate black history Thursday night

Westside Health Authority is hosting the 5 p.m. event at 5437 W. Division St.

Ald. Deborah Graham will face Chris Taliaferro, while Ald. Emma Mitts and Tara Stamps will compete in the April 7th runoff.

There’s still time to cast your vote for Chicago City Council and mayor as well as weigh in on whether the city should have an elected school board.

Participate in the Black Economic Empowerment Rally 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at Second Times the Charm Boutique, 5303 W. Chicago. Ave.

Another free healthcare enrollment event will be held this Saturday, Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. 3 p.m. at Loretto Hospital, 645 S. Central.

Supporters will gather from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 16 at United Missionary Baptist Church, 4242 W. Roosevelt Road.

Chicagoans can go to any one of 51 sites across the city to cast their ballots for the city council and mayor.

“Reel Black Love: Black Romance in Film” will be screened 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Austin Town Hall; reservations are required.
