Ald. Deborah Graham (29th) and Ald. Emma Mitts (37th) fell short of winning another four-year term in the Chicago City Council.

With all but one precinct reporting, Ald. Deborah Graham placed first, with 4,045 voters (40 percent) – not enough to win outright.

Graham will face Chris Taliaferro, who came in second with 2,275 votes (22.5 percent), in the April 7 runoff. Lawrence Andolino came in third with 1,499 votes (15 percent).

In the 37th Ward, Mitts, a 15-year incumbent, came closer to winning the election. With all but one precinct reporting, she received 3,805 votes (48.56 percent) – but still below the 50.1 percent needed.

Mitts will face off against Tara Stamps, who won 2,538 votes (32 percent).

In the 24th Ward, Michael Scott Jr. was the top vote-getter with 1,944 votes (30 percent), while Vetress Boyce won 1,075 (17 percent).

They will face off in April after beating eight other candidates for the right to succeed retiring Ald. Michael Chandler.
