Young and old are encouraged to unite against violence and crime by joining forces tonight, June 22nd from 6 to 7 p.m. – and on Wednesdays throughout July.
West side residents will meet at various corners in Austin at 6 p.m. tonight and every other Wednesday in June and July to take a stand against violence.
The Cook County Board of Commissions recently approved a resolution that underscores the need for young people to stay indoors at night or face fines and required community service.
Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin is hosting the free event Saturday, May 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. T Sankofa House, 4041 W. Roosevelt Road.
West Siders are invited to the free event, which will be held at 10 a.m. April 16 at 119 S. Central Park Blvd.
About 50 students and community leaders from across Chicago gathered Saturday in Austin to discuss ways to make their neighborhoods safer.
Register for the Jan. 7th meeting sponsored by state Rep. La Shawn Ford.
The Greater Austin Independent Political Organization will holds it next meeting Dec. 12.
Elected officials hope peace and calm will continue as more people view the shooting footage.
