The center will be housed in a building, located at Madison Street and Cicero Avenue, that lifelong West Side residents Shrone Conaway and brothers Marnell and Malcolm Brown purchased. The center will provide resources on violence prevention, HIV/AIDS testing, housing, job coaching and support for people experiencing substance use disorders.
BUILD Chicago’s new 10,000-square-foot campus will be officially open to the public in May, with youth programs starting this month. The hub is located at BUILD’s Austin site at 5100 W. Harrison St.
Through violence prevention and reduction grants, West Side nonprofits will receive millions of dollars over the next three years. Grant recipients include BUILD Chicago, New Moms and Manufacturing Renaissance.

BUILD Chicago’s Hoops in the Hood starts July 1 at Simon Park 1640 N. Drake. There will be six other games on Fridays from 3:30 to 7 p.m., with the last game being played Aug. 11 at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison St.
Austin Coming Together has received a grant from the Tides Foundation. It is funding a restorative justice program that teaches young people to become peace circle keepers.
The 15th Police District and its community partners will be offering a number of programs to young people, including a camping trip over Memorial Day weekend.
Participants are being sought for violence-prevention workshops that will begin soon. Organizers hope representatives from 30 to 35 groups will participate.
