Loretto Hospital offers free screening Saturday

Free screenings are available to women living in the Austin ZIP codes of 60651, 60644, 60624, 60623 and 60612. Women living outside those areas can get a mammogram at a reduced rate.
Free 3D screening mammograms will be offered to the first 40 eligible women Oct. 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the River Forest Medical Campus, 420 William St, Building B. Call 708-763-7911 to request a screening.
“While there’s no cure for COPD, if it’s diagnosed and treated early, it can be a very manageable condition,” said Dr. Nikhila Juvvadi, Loretto Hospital’s chief medical officer. Free pulmonary function testing is available to Austin residents living in the 60651, 60644, 60624, 60623 and 60612 Zip codes.
State Rep. La Shawn Ford shared his story of overcoming cancer, and 30 men were screened for prostate cancer at West Suburban Medical Center last weekend. Free screening is available through the end of September at The Loretto Hospital.

Front Porch Art Center and Austin Town Hall will host the sixth annual (In)Justice For All Film Festival 6 p.m. Wednesday. They will also offer a creative art-based workshop at 3:30 p.m. with a licensed counseling psychologist and registered expressive art therapist.
The free event – held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 29 at The Loretto Hospital – includes screenings, lunch, and a panel of experts.
Some of the five-part documentary “The Raising of America” will be shown at 6 p.m. May 12 at Austin Town Hall, followed by discussion and a free dinner.
