Hundreds turned out for the Austin P.O.W.E.R 5k

“This was a growth year for us,” said Malcolm Crawford, race organizer and executive director of the Austin African American Business Networking Association. “We’re looking for bigger and better next year. We got a lot of good experience this year, so we are looking forward to next year.”

Austin farmers markets wrapping up for the year

Stop at any one of the four Austin locations before they close for the year. The final date for Columbus Park is Sept. 11; for LaFollette Park its Sept. 12; and for the Austin City Market its Sept. 13. The PCC Austin Farm Stand continues until Oct. 16.

PCC Austin Farm holds open house today

In celebration of National Health Center week, Austin residents are invited from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 14 at 330 N. Lotus Ave. There will be fresh produce for sale and hands-on gardening activities, and 37th Ward Ald. Emma Mitts will be honored.
