Heaven Sutton’s death is yet another reminder of gang violence on the South and West Sides.
The June 8 showing revealed work produced by children at neighborhood schools inspired by the help of local artists.
Those interested in attending the Tuesday June 12 meeting at Spencer Technology Academy should RSVP.
The film, which shows the consequences of violence and focuses on solutions to the community’s problems, will be shown several other times on the West Side.
The 5200 block of West Adams Avenue will hold its first meeting Saturday, and more events and meetings will follow to address crime in the neighborhood.
You can join the group at 10 a.m. tomorrow to show young people and the community your support to end violence.
Just as last week’s LSC results are released, CPS announced supplemental elections will be held May 18 at schools where not enough candidates ran to fill the council.
Residents are encouraged to join those already tending vegetables and flowers at Root Riot’s Harambee plots or the new Ed Bailey-Leola Spann Community Garden scheduled to open in just a few weeks.
Elections for all CPS elementary schools will be held today from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the same time tomorrow at all high schools.
Like others, the school won’t have enough candidates on Wednesday’s ballot to fill the open positions.
