The Central Green line station is one of nearly 30 CTA stations across the city that will be repaired and improved this year. The work is being done as part of the CTA’s 3-year-old “refresh and renew” program.
“Sunburst” is a painted aluminum sculpture created specifically for the recently refurbished CTA bus turnaround at the corner of Chicago Avenue and Austin Boulevard. The artist, Shinique Smith, was one of nearly 350 artists who responded to CTA’s Call for Artists issued in 2015 for the bus turnaround.
Green Line riders can see the Holiday Train on Tuesday from about 3 to 7 p.m. Blue Line riders can catch a ride on the special train Dec. 12-14. The Chicago Transit Authority began the annual tradition in 1992.
