Austin’s annual Christmas celebration this week

The parade kicks off at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5th at Madison and Cicero, and the tree lighting will be at 7:15 p.m. in front of the 15th District Police headquarters.

Christ Resurrection MB Church will serve a free community dinner today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cook County Commissioner Larry Rogers Jr. will host a free forum 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at Sankofa Cultural Arts & Business Center, 5820 W. Chicago Ave.
The free event will be held at Ella Flagg Young School, 1434 N. Parkside, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It targets teen boys and men from 14 to 30.
The meal will be held Nov. 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran gymnasium, 846 N. Menard St.
Animal control officials and other experts will attend and answer questions.
Several public officials have been invited to the urban strategy community safety event at Michele Clark Academic Preparatory High School.
Indian music will be featured tonight at Garfield Park Conservatory and Dec. 12 and 14 at Austin Town Hall.
