The Thierer Family Foundation has given a $25,000 grant to Dion’s Chicago Dream, an Englewood-based grocery delivery service, to expand food deliveries in Austin.
Stop by the Austin branch at 5615 W. Race Ave. from 3 to 5 p.m. March 24. The resource fair is sponsored by the Chicago Public Library and Greater West Town Project.
The Civitas Ensemble will be performing at 6:30 p.m. March 22 at the Kehrein Center for the Arts, 5628 S. Washington Blvd. Call (312) 294-3000 to get free tickets.
The group, led by the Leaders Network, backs Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s proposal to allocate $20 million for the witness protection program, which has gone unfunded for years.
Free, confidential help is available at locations across the city through mid-April when 2021 tax returns must be filed. Families earning up to $58,000 and individuals making up to $32,000 are eligible for this assistance. Appointments can be made online or by calling (312) 588-6900.
A panel and reception will be held Sunday starting at 2 p.m. at the Austin library branch, 5615 W. Race Ave.
One of the six virtual meetings will be held specifically for West Side residents. That meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10. Participants are encouraged to register in advance.
The office at 5400 W. Madison St. will be open three days a week. There are three new part-time employees to help business owners apply for grants and other funding opportunities.
The Chicago Park District is hiring Chicago residents 16 years and older to work as lifeguards, rec leaders and more. The 15th Police District, 5701 W. Madison St., will host the event from 5 to 7 p.m. March 3.
The first Columbus Park event of the ‘Go Run series will be held at 9 a.m. March 5. Participants may choose from either a 1 mile or 3.1 mile course. The series is organized by the Chicago Park District and the Chicago Area Runners Association. Register this week, before the event.
