At the Sweet Homes Chicago creative workshop Dec. 15, attendees learned about and critiqued the contests’ top entries, which propose ways to create a more self-sufficient community.
The 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 event will be held at the Austin Public Library, 5615 W Race Ave. All ages are welcome to attend the workshop to discuss creative housing and neighborhood preservation in Austin.
Last week’s financial literacy program was the first of multiple citywide events aimed to help residents learn to rebuild credit, buy homes and reduce dependency on currency exchanges. The next event is in Englewood Oct. 27.
The Bethel New LIfe program will provide owners training and up to $6,000 in start-up costs to help build up the business community on the West Side. The first informational workshop starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight at 1140 N. Lamon Ave.
The group made a stop at Austin Town Hall Sept. 22 to hear stories from residents and guests for their upcoming storytelling and musical interpretation series.
The program, which aims to offer opportunities to individuals with disabilities, will be closing the series May 20 with “Images of Disability in Films for Kids.”
The S.W.A.G., or Stand up, Win and Achieve your Goals program will offer different workshops for teens and young adults that focus on career preparation, healthy living and violence prevention.
Tips on how to attract investment and continue to grow were shared, and financial institutions were on hand, too.
