The ban is enforced on 107 miles of main streets throughout the city from 3 to 7 p.m. through April 1. Violators will face more than $200 in fines and fees.
West Side teens are invited to a holiday celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17 at La Follette Park, 1333 N. Lararmie Ave. There will be free food and giveaways as well as a winter clothes drive. For each piece of clothing a teen brings, they will get one raffle ticket.
The nuns who operate Fraternite Notre Dame say they need $200,000 to replace the heating system.
Eligible residents can receive help through CEDA’s winter heating season program or from ComEd’s hardship fund.
In Austin, it covers West Division and West Madison streets and Central Avenue.
