State Rep. La Shawn Ford will announce the formation of the West Side Behavioral Health Task Force on Monday. Joining Ford will be the heads of The Loretto Hospital, the Bobby E. Wright Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center and Habilitative Systems Inc.
State Rep. La Shawn Ford is serving chairman of the Illinois House Firearm Public Awareness Task Force, which will review the issue of gun violence and make recommendations designed to reduce violence.

About 65 teachers and staff lost their jobs on the West Side in the latest round of CPS layoffs.
The group, which met Monday and has future meetings planned, looks at both sides of the right to bear arms debate and how concealed weapons permits would affect those living in Illinois.
Members of the public have until 5 p.m. Nov. 21 to express their opinions about CPS’ new criteria.
The task force, organized by state Rep. La Shawn Ford, will help coordinate assistance for distressed homeowners.
