For $1, West Siders can see the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic play “Havana Blue” this Saturday. This weekend’s performance will blend African and Cuban music.
The Chicago Jazz Philharmonic performs Sunday in Austin for the first time as the start of a three-concert series being held at the Kehrein Center for the Arts.
The music of Ella Fitzgerald, “the first lady of song,” will be featured at 7 p.m. July 14th as part of the night out in the parks series.
Pianist Erwin Helfer will commemorate his 80th birthday in a two-hour performance Feb. 19th with several other musicians.
The Oct. 27 event will be held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Midway Park. Tickets are $25.
Last month’s two-week program at the University of Illinois at Chicago gave 150 students citywide the opportunity to practice skills, watch performances and develop new techniques.
