Columbus Park hosted two Juneteenth festivals last weekend, with hundreds of West Siders taking part. Mark your calendar for next year’s celebrations.
There will be at least three Juneteenth celebrations in Austin this weekend – two at Columbus Park and the other on Chicago Avenue. All are welcome!
At least 4,000 people gathered in Austin Saturday to enjoy music, food and family fun along the Soul City Corridor along Chicago Avenue.
There will be food vendors and live blues music throughout the day, June 11th, starting at noon at 5720 W. Chicago Ave.
Bring your chairs and blankets to Columbus Park Thursday, Aug. 26 to see a free performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The performance starts at 6 p.m.
Schedule your audition for tonight’s session, which is sponsored by The Loretto Hospital. Tonight’s winner will advance to the 2020 Census Factor Finale Show on Sept. 17. Judging the competitors will be George Miller, Loretto’s president and CEO; NBA player Evan Turner; and state Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth.
The sixth annual event will feature a quilt show, craft fair, food, music, poetry readings and more. It will run from 2 to 8 p.m. at 6200 W. Bloomingdale Ave.
The Austin Green Team’s summer movie series continues Tuesday, July 30 at 168 N. Laramie. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and non-alcoholic drinks. Snacks will be provided. And don’t miss the garden tour 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 3 at Laramie and Maypole.
A banquet hall on Chicago Avenue plans to offer live entertainment and serve alcohol.
