They ended the summer program that provided cultural, career-building and community service experiences with a Rites of Passage celebration Aug. 4.
The Aug. 1 performance of “The Taming of the Shrew” at Austin Town Hall was the third of 11 scheduled performances by the free citywide tour, which brought residents and visitors to the West Side neighborhood.
While some express support for the city’s plan, others remain concerned the West Side was not singled out for specific projects.
The free event featured professionals, as well as student performers from the Chicago Park District day camp program.
The 6 p.m. July 30 free event will feature performers from the Chicago West Community Music Center’s cultural exchange program.
