West Side residents are invited to a Halloween party in the 800 block of North Massasoit that starts at 4 p.m. Oct. 31. The free party – which will include hot dogs and candy – is sponsored by the Good Neighbors Campaign.
The summer celebration will be held on Fridays from 4 to 9 p.m. at 5500 W. Madison St. There will be free games, food, drinks and more. Sponsored by the Westside Health Authority’s Good Neighbor Campaign.
About 20 Austin youth have been working on a plan to help combat violence in the neighborhood. Starting June 29th, on every Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m., which are peak hours for violence, the community will have access to activities in arts and culture, fitness, dance, healing circles and sports, among other activities, in the safe zone.
The Westside Health Authority along with its sponsors will be hosting its annual community playstreets event today from 3 to 6 p.m. at 5000 W. Van Buren. There will be music, food and a moon bounce.
The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 2 at Douglass High School, 543 N. Waller Ave.
Police, residents came together once again for their annual community block party held in Chicago and other U.S. cities every summer.
All are welcome at the free event noon to 6 p.m. May 12 at 1140 N. Lamon.
Neighbors in the 5300, 5400 and 5500 block of Quincy Street celebrated the end of summer and their tight-knit community last weekend.
