West Side residents to stand once again on Austin corners

Young and old are encouraged to unite against violence and crime by joining forces tonight, June 22nd from 6 to 7 p.m. – and on Wednesdays throughout July.
West side residents will meet at various corners in Austin at 6 p.m. tonight and every other Wednesday in June and July to take a stand against violence.
The community continues to work on how to build trust and improve relations between Austin residents and the Chicago Police Department.
Youth ages 13 to 24 are invited to participate in the Feb. 27 event that’s designed to ease tensions between the community and officers.
Early registration for the late September event ends Aug. 15.
The April 21 event, hosted by Ald. Deborah Graham and the 15th District Chicago Police Department, will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of Laramie Avenue and Adams Street
More than 100 members of Hope Community Church have helped residents within a 23-block radius of the West Side church.
