Austin’s next fresh produce market set for Aug. 9-11

Stop by 5051 W. Chicago Ave. to get your fresh fruits and vegetables – and so much more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 8:30 a.m.t o 4 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Chemistry Catering will be featured on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Black Cat Kitchen will take center stage Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Youth invited to basketball tournament Wednesday

The 15th District Youth Leadership Council and After School Matters is sponsoring the event, which will include 3-point and dunk contests. It will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. July 31 at Christ the King High School, 5088 W. Jackson. Cost is $3 per spectator.

See a movie in the garden tonight

The Austin Green Team’s summer movie series continues Tuesday, July 30 at 168 N. Laramie. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and non-alcoholic drinks. Snacks will be provided. And don’t miss the garden tour 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 3 at Laramie and Maypole.

West Side teens work on TV set

Nearly 20 teens from the South and West sides of Chicago came together to work on a professional TV set as part of a Fresh Films program, where they worked alongside professionals including American actor Tim Kazurinsky.
