Ald. Chris Taliaferro is hosting a free walk-in clinic with assistance from the Chicago Department of Health from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 6272 W. North Ave.
There will be goat milking, live blues music, free lemonade and fresh farm products on sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at GlennArt Pasture, one block east of the farm at 457 N. Waller. From 8 to 9 a.m watch goat milking — or try your hand at it yourself — at GlennArt Farm (behind the house at 5749 W. Midway Park).
The controversial penny-an-ounce sweetened beverage tax could be repealed next week by the Cook County Board of Commissioners. West Side residents discussed the controversial tax Wednesday at the North Austin Branch Library. The event was co-sponsored by the Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Westside Branch of the NAACP.
West Siders will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 10th to discuss the development and support for a new school as part of Austin’s Good Neighbor Campaign.
That’s good news, though some advocates say West Side students continue to suffer from too little funding over the years.
