March for resources set for Saturday

“There’s no versus them in this,” Deputy Chief Kevin Johnson said at a recent community forum. “We need your ideas, and we need your help. Whatever we can do to solve our problems, that’s what we need to do. We can’t point fingers anymore, we need to put on paper what we can do to make our community safer.”
One party is being held from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 846 N. Menard, and the other will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the 15th Police District, 5701 W. Madison St.
More than 50 men gathered earlier this month in Austin to sign a pledge against domestic violence. It’s part of the “100 Man Stand Challenge,” where participants pledged to stand up against all acts of violence.
The Austin Town Hall Advisory Board is hosting the Oct. 27th event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be games, raffles, food and more.
The 25th District is seeking the public’s thoughts on how officers should be trained. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Heritage International Christian Church, 5320 W. North Ave.
The weekly program at Tolton Peace Center will help teens with managing stress and goal setting; it will run from Nov. 7 through Dec. 19 at the Tolton Peace Center.
The 15th District job fair will be held 3 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Adams and Cicero.
The Chicago Department of Health will be administering shots from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23rd at Ald. Chris Taliaferro’s ward office, 6272 W. North Ave.
Austin residents can still register to vote in next month’s election. Dozens of races are on the ballot, including governor, attorney general, the Illinois General Assembly, Congress and judges.
