The choir will be joined by several in-school choirs as they present a free community concert at 7 p.m. May 15 at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison St.

The Good Neighbor Campaign will be recognizing the Chicago Police Department’s first response team as well as an exemplary teacher at its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. May 14 at 5437 W. Division.
The Friendship Baptist Church, at 5200 W. Jackson Boulevard, hosts the monthly meal on the second Saturday of the month. Join West Side residents on May 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.
There are more than 3,000 properties in Cook County’s District 1 – much of it on Chicago’s West Side – in danger of being sold at the annual tax auction that begins May 3.
The three winners – a 3rd grader and two 4th graders – each received a trophy and certificate as well as a goodie bag. This is the 25th year the American Women/Austin have held their Great American Spelling Bee.
Stop by the branch at 5615 W. Race Ave. from 3 to 5 p.m. April 30 for a free book and bagel, too. The event is sponsored by A House in Austin and Neuberger Berman.
The American Red Cross, the Chicago Fire Department and Ald. Chris Taliaferro’s office have a goal of distributing 450 alarms over the next few weeks.
The programs – which begin June 24th – are free and open to Chicago high school students who are at least 14 years old (16 years old for internships). In total, about 13,000 paid apprenticeship and internship opportunities will be available. Participating teen apprentices will be eligible to earn a stipend of up to $420 depending on the program level; interns can earn up to $10.50 per hour.
