Vacant lots on three West Side streets have been selected for transformation as part of a block club competition sponsored by Austin Coming Together and LISC Chicago.
The back-to-school celebration runs from 2 to 7 p.m. Aug. 29th at 5701 W. Madison. There will be giveaways, physicals and haircuts, food and more.
All are welcome from 12 to 4 p.m. at Resurrected Life Church International, 4538 W. Fullerton. There will also be a job fair, haircuts, live music and more.
Event begins at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26th with a peace march. There will be carnival games, a live DJ, food and more at BUILD’s headquarters, 5100 W. Harrison.
The event, organized by Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 26th at the Austin library. The West Side Ministers Coalition is hosting.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. Saturday Aug. 27th at Bloomingdale and Central, followed by a picnic at 1 p.m. at Columbus Park. Tp participate in the annual event sponsored by Congressman Danny K. Davis, call (773) 626-8481.
Stop by Sankofa Cultural Arts, 5820 W. Chicago Ave., on Aug. 20th from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Registration will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 22-26 at Oscar DePriest Elementary, 139 S. Parkside Ave. School begins Sept. 6th.
Free screenings and educational resources will be available at the free event, held at BUILD’s headquarters. It begins with registration at 9 a.m. Aug. 20th and ends that day at 4 p.m.
“Twelfth Night” will be performed 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Columbus Park.
