Bike ride, parade and more this weekend on the West Side

BUILD will hold a bike ride for peace from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 24th. Participants are encouraged to register in advance for the event, which begins at 5100 W. Harrison St. The Chicago Community Alliance will hold “Summer Fest West” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Marshall High School, 3300 W. Jackson Blvd. City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin and 28th Ward Ald. Jason Ervin will host the event.

Stop by Wednesday’s back to school dinner

Women of Self Love Inc. and Kids First Chicago are sponsoring the event being held from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at Austin Coming Together, 5049 W. Harrison St. Parents and students will learn about how to navigate the process for selecting an elementary and high school.

Back-to-school rally set for Saturday

The third annual event, put on by the Clifton P. Lewis Foundation, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at the West Chicago Library branch, 4856 W. Chicago Ave. There will be food, entertainment by the Jessie White Tumblers and a school supply giveaway.

Back to school celebration set for Wednesday

The Chicago Police Department and Chicago Public Schools are hosting today’s event from 2 to 5 p.m. in the 15th District’s west parking lot, 5701 W. Madison. There will be immunizations, dental exams, food, games, performers and more.
