The Chicago Philharmonic will be performing at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at Columbus Park Refectory. The rehearsal for the side-by-side performance will be at 3:30 p.m.
Stop by from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of fun, free food and activities. The parade starts at Cicero and Jackson at 11 a.m.
Seventeen-year-olds and almost 17-year-olds are invited to view the Netflix documentary – which analyzes the criminalization of African Americans and the prison boom – from noon to 3:30 p.m. June 23 at By the Hand, 415 N. Laramie.
The Elgin-based Annie Young Gospel Blues Band will be performing at 3 p.m. June 21st at Austin Town Hall as part of Make Music Chicago.
Light of Liberty Church, at 2 Washington Blvd. in Oak Park, will serve free lunch through Aug. 18, while New Life Ministries, 634 N. Austin Blvd., will provide both breakfast and lunch from July 10 through Aug. 18.
The first of three meetings being held to discuss which neighborhood projects should be funded with “menu money” is set for June 14 at Amundsen Park. Two other gatherings are planned for Rutherford-Sayre Park and the Columbus Park Refectory later this month.
Join in on the discussion June 7 from 6 to p.m. An expert panel will explore the ways this rich tradition can help draw visitors to Austin.
Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin is hosting the event 10 a.m. to noon June 10.
Contributions can be made in person or online until June 9th. The goal is to raise at least $3,000.
