Members of The Leaders Network say changes to Illinois’ recreational cannabis law are overdue – and must ensure Black and Brown business owners will be awarded lucrative dispensary licenses that so far have gone only to whites.

The city’s One Summer Chicago program is accepting applications from teens and young adults ages 14 to 24. Government institutions, community groups and local companies will be offering more than 20,000 employment and internship opportunities.
Students can apply for more than 400 programs in the arts, communication, leadership, sports and STEM that begin the week of July 6. Teens will earn a stipend between $336 and $850 depending on the length and level of expertise required for the program.
Workers are being sought to conduct the once-a-decade count of the U.S. population. You can apply online or by calling 855-JOB-2020. Positions available include clerk ($18 an hour); census field supervisor ($25 an hour); census takers ($22.50 an hour); and office operations supervisors ($23 an hour).
The free hiring event will be held at Catholic Charities, 5645 W. Corcoran Place, on Oct. 25th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event targets journeyman electricians, plumbers, pipe fitters, carpenters, construction laborers and more. General contractors/business owners will have a session from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
The application deadline for One Summer Chicago is May 20. More than 32,000 summer job and internship opportunities will be available to Chicagoans ages 14 to 24 from from July 1 through Aug. 9.
The hiring event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 29 at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson Blvd. Come prepared to be interviewed, and bring plenty of resumes.
The 15th District job fair will be held 3 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Adams and Cicero.
