Vacant lots on three West Side streets have been selected for transformation as part of a block club competition sponsored by Austin Coming Together and LISC Chicago.
15th District Commander Dwayne Betts has been meeting with local businesses and community groups to make Austin safer.
Event begins at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26th with a peace march. There will be carnival games, a live DJ, food and more at BUILD’s headquarters, 5100 W. Harrison.
The event, organized by Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 26th at the Austin library. The West Side Ministers Coalition is hosting.
Free screenings and educational resources will be available at the free event, held at BUILD’s headquarters. It begins with registration at 9 a.m. Aug. 20th and ends that day at 4 p.m.
The Ahmeds hope to be have an Austin location, next to their liquor store in the 5900 block of West Division, up and running by November.
