All are welcome to participate in the 100 Voices for Justice Mass Choir on June 12 at New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 4301 W. Washington Blvd. There is one required rehearsal at 7 p.m. June 11.
Launched in 2016, the choir includes students aged 9 to 14 and is looking to expand. Tickets to tonight’s performance are free, though donations are welcome.
Community meetings and rehearsals have been set in the 29th and 37th Wards for the citywide Crowd Out performance at Millennium Park Oct. 1. The program is sponsored and coordinated by Illinois Humanities.
The performance will be 4 p.m. Nov. 19th at Westinghouse High School. Auditions will be held afterwards for those interested in joining the group.
Admission is free to the Oct. 1 event, which begins at 4 p.m. and will be held at Greater Holy Temple Ministries at 5906-10 W. Chicago Ave.
The three-part event, running from June to August at Columbus, Douglas and Garfield parks, will feature local acts, gospel choirs and artists Musiq Soulchild and Syleena Johnson.
The Nov. 20 event at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School featured the Mkhonto Fellowship Choir from South Africa and Chicago musician T.L. Williams.
