West Side aldermantic candidates invited to discuss issues Wednesday

The forum, set for 6:30 p.m. March 11 at 5730 W. Division St., will be held one day after the deadline to register to vote in the April 7 runoff.

The Westside chapter of the NAACP is sponsoring forums March 26 for the 29th Ward and April 2 for the 37th Ward.

The 15-year incumbent will face CPS teacher Tara Stamps.

There’s still time to cast your vote for Chicago City Council and mayor as well as weigh in on whether the city should have an elected school board.

Eight candidates are vying for the right to represent Austin, Galewood and other parts of the West Side.

Chicagoans can go to any one of 51 sites across the city to cast their ballots for the city council and mayor.

Dwayne Truss says the mayor and aldermen have not done a good job of managing debt or paying for pensions.

Six of the eight candidates answered questions at a forum sponsored by the newly formed Advocates for Neighborhood Development and Empowerment.

Incumbent Ald. Deborah Graham was center of attacks by rivals; she faces seven challenges Feb. 24.

Voters will get to choose among four in one race and eight in the other in the Feb. 24 election.
