A six- to 12-month program is being considered by Ald. Chris Taliaferro. The high-definition cameras could be installed at any place in the ward, and residents would be able to monitor them.
The city has issued more than $1.3 million in fines since the camera was installed in December 2013.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel is scaling back the controversial system; challenger Jesus Chuy Garcia has vowed to get rid of all the cameras citywide.
