Last Austin disaster recovery center to close Tuesday

Grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so residents should apply for the grants ASAP.
Oct. 30 is the deadline for residents and business owners to apply to FEMA for disaster assistance in the wake of the summer flooding.

Angela Gregg joined other victim advocates and state Rep. La Shawn Ford Thursday at a virtual press conference to push state and local officials to do more to help grieving families. Gregg’s 4-year-old son was hit by gunfire last year while he sat in a barber shot and got his hair braided. He was one of dozens of children killed last year in Chicago.
The Chicago Department of Housing will begin accepting applications Dec. 6 for its latest round of rental assistance for tenants and landlords financially impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. Dec. 18.
