Free workshop on helping children affected by trauma

All four candidates – incumbent Danny Davis and challengers Anthony Clark, Kina Collins and Kristine Schanbacher – have been invited to Thursday night’s forum, which is being sponsored by the South Austin Neighborhood Association. The candidates forum starts at 6 p.m. Feb. 20 and will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, at Jackson and Laramie.

The Westside Health Authority’s community-based movement, the Good Neighbor campaign, will be hand delivering homemade cards on Valentine’s Day.
The monthly event will be held at 5051 W. Chicago Ave. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14; from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15; and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16.
Senate Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford, who represents Austin in the Illinois Senate, will host the social equity workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at Columbus Park Refectory.
Fernando Jones will perform the show at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 in the community room of the 25th District Police Station at 5555 W. Grand Ave. Space is limited so organizers ask that you RSVP to the event.
Stop by Friendship Baptist Church, 5200 W. Jackson Blvd., from 1 to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 8. All are invited to the monthly community event.
The sixth annual event will feature a quilt show, craft fair, food, music, poetry readings and more. It will run from 2 to 8 p.m. at 6200 W. Bloomingdale Ave.
