The 15th Police District faith-based group invites West Siders to its annual picnic 6 to 7 p.m. July 19 at Emmet Elementary School, 5500 W. Madison St.
West Siders are invited to a birthday celebration and tribute 10:30 a.m. July 18 to the South African leader. The event, which will be held at 4800 W. Chicago Ave., is sponsored by state Rep. La Shawn Ford, Westside Health Authority, CBC, West Side Historic Preservation Society, Institute for Nonvioence Chicago, New Jerusalem Lodge of M.W.P.H.G.L. of Illinois, Ceasefire, SSF AVE 72, Tia L. Ford, West Side Democracy for America, Saint Martin De Porres and Fathers Who Care.
Everyone is welcome Saturday, July 15 for a ride through Austin. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at 5100 W. Harrison Street, with bikers setting off at 10 a.m.
All are welcome for outreach and fellowship on July 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1256 N. Waller Ave.
Community development expert Valerie Leonard will be the guest speaker July 12 at Gone Again Travel & Tours, 5940 W. Chicago Ave., as residents continue to discuss how to use blues and soul to develop the West Side.
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx invites the public to an open house celebrating the office’s seventh anniversary. The event will be held at 4 West Chicago Ave. in Oak Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 12.
The June 23rd event at Columbus Park, organized by BUILD, celebrated the end of school and provided a practical way for young people to connect to positive activities and stay safe.
The event, which includes dinner and a speaker, will be held Thursday, June 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at New Moms, 5317 W. Chicago Ave.
Put on a red shirt and meet at 6 p.m. June 28 at Laramie and Adam. If you can’t make it this week, there are several other Wednesdays where the community will be gathering as part of 100 blocks/100 churches.
Join state Rep. La Shawn Ford and several Boy and Girl Scout troops from 5 to 6 p.m. June 28 at 5601 W. Corcoran. There will be free food and music.
