Fathers day brunch to focus on changing parenting laws

The free show – presented by the 15th Police District and DJ Phantom Inc. – will be held June 15 at the Kehrein Center for the Arts, 5608 W. Washington Blvd. Doors open at 10 a.m.
Grassroots Grocery, presented by Austin Ave 72 Chicago and Forty Acres Fresh Market, will take place at 5051 W. Chicago Ave. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. There will be free samples and giveaways, plus recipe demonstrations.
More than 200 volunteers helped transform an empty lot on Saturday into a playground that was designed by the local kids who will get to use it.
All who are concerned about Austin’s future are invited to attend today’s meeting, which will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the West Austin Child Development Center, 4920 W. Madison.
The Chicago West Community Music Center’s orchestra free performance will held at 7 p.m. June 7 at the Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson Blvd. This is the group’s first Chicago concert after performing in China and France.
Stop by most Saturdays this summer at gardens to pitch in. The next events will be held June 8 at the Veterans Peace Garden, 5413 W. Madison St., and PCC Austin Farm, 330 N. Lotus Ave. Refreshments will be served.
The Chicago Police Department and Austin mental health professionals will lead a two-part discussion on June 4 and 11. The public’s input is being sought to help shape a plan for addressing Chicago youth’s exposure to traumatic events.
Participants must register in advance for Saturday’s event. Only registered attendees will be able to have their petitions prepared.
A free concert will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. May 29th at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson.
