The South Austin Neighborhood Association is hosting an event May 4th for residents to learn more about redistricting and how it affects political power.
The Central Green line station is one of nearly 30 CTA stations across the city that will be repaired and improved this year. The work is being done as part of the CTA’s 3-year-old “refresh and renew” program.
There will be workshops on credit and debt management, homeownership tips and more at the free event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 at 415 N. Laramie.
A free information session will be held on Zoom at 6:30 p.m. April 27. A representative from the Chicago Department of Public Health will explain how Narcan can be used to reverse an overdose.
Thirty women will be honored April 23 at JLM Abundant Life Center, 2624 W. Jackson Blvd. Tickets are still available.
The free event will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. April 21 at La Follette Park.
Eligible households can apply for up to $30,000 in free assistance to pay past due mortgage payments, property taxes, property insurance, and delinquent homeowner and/or condo association fees. The deadline to apply to the Illinois Homeowners Assistance Fund is May 31.
Lottery applications for the city’s monthly cash assistance program to low-income, COVID-impacted residents will be accepted from April 25 to May 13. The Chicago Resilient Communities Pilot is a $31.5 million program that will support 5,000 low-income households with $500 monthly payments for one year.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at the Westside Justice Center, 601 S. California Ave. Free fingerprinting services to obtain rap sheets will be available to the first 50 people.
