More than 40 high school students from Illinois’ 7th Congressional District are vying for the right to have their works displayed at the U.S. Capitol for the next year.
There will be free screenings and the chance to sign up for insurance at the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Westside Writing Project and City Bureau are hosting workshops every Saturday for the next month starting April 23rd at Sankofa Cultural Center, 5820 W. Chicago.
State Rep. Camille Lilly is sponsoring the event April 23 from 12:30 to 3:30 at which self esteem, black history, social media etiquette, civic engagement and other topics will be discussed.
West Siders are invited to the free event, which will be held at 10 a.m. April 16 at 119 S. Central Park Blvd.
Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin is sponsoring the April 9th event, which will offer information about summer jobs, internships and youth programs.
This month’s activity – to be held at the Austin branch from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 28 – is learning to arm knit and finger crochet.
The free session will be held March 26 and then again on March 28 at 5615 W. Race Ave.
