The sixth annual event will feature a quilt show, craft fair, food, music, poetry readings and more. It will run from 2 to 8 p.m. at 6200 W. Bloomingdale Ave.
Get free tips on how to prevent assaults and which self-defense techniques to use. The event – hosted by state Rep. La Shawn Ford and feature Westside Health Authority instructor Tottiente Tolliver. It will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at 5437 W. Division St.
State Rep. La Shawn Ford and the Illinois Environmental Council have organized a town hall Monday night in Austin. The event – which will feature a panel of experts who will share information and answer questions – begins at 6 p.m. and will be held 5437 W. Division Ave.
The candidates – Congressman Danny Davis, and challengers Kina Collins, Anthony Clark and Kristine Schanbacher – will discuss the issues from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 30th at the Austin library branch, 5615 W. Race Ave.
One of the six public sessions will be held in Austin; that meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison St. Residents are encouraged to register ahead of time.

Chicago officials will hold the second of four city-wide meetings to promote the new Invest South/West program Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kehrein Center, 5608 W. Washington Blvd. The focus will be on the Austin, Humboldt Park and North Lawndale neighborhoods.
