Graham ahead in close race for 29th Ward committeeman

With all but one of 48 precincts reporting, Ald. Deborah Graham is ahead in a tight race for 29th Ward Democratic committeeman against U.S. Rep. Danny K. Davis, according to an unofficial summary report released by the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.

The report shows Graham secured 51.47 percent of the vote, with Davis at 48.53 percent, or 3,021 votes to 2,848.

But in another race, Davis defeated Jacques Conway in a landslide, receiving 84 percent of votes with 83 percent precincts reporting, to retain his 7th Congressional District seat, according to our partners at the Austin Weekly News.

The Austin Weekly News also reported a big win for state Rep. Camille Lilly. She defeated Michael D. Nardello to keep her 78th District seat.

With 48 of 50 precincts reporting, Michael D. Chandler defeated Wallace E. “Mickey” Johnson in the race for 24th Ward Democratic committeeman 62.06 percent to 37.94, according the Board of Election Commissioners’ unofficial report.
