Election officials remove aldermanic candidates Carol Johnson and Erick Von Kondrat from the Feb. 22nd ballot after a staffer for retired Ald. Ed Smith raised objections.
It will be January before West Side residents know who they can vote for in the 28th, 29th and 37th Ward races. A record number of candidate objections has delayed the work of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.
The Chicago Board of Election Commissions will continue this week to make decisions about which 28th and 29th Ward candidates are eligible for the election.

Candidates have until Dec. 6 to let Mayor Daley know they’re interested in replacing Ed Smith for the final few months of his term, which ends in mid-May.
The longtime alderman’s resignation, less than three months before the Feb. 22nd election, could give Maywood Village Manager Jason Ervin a boost over the nine others who filed for the seat.
